Driveway Washing:
Washing your car in the driveway can be a fun chore but it’s also doing damage that you might not even be aware of. Cars that are washed in the driveway can pollute our rivers and oceans. The soapy water that runs off the car into the street goes into the stormwater drains. Stormwater, unlike the water which enters the sewers, does not undergo treatment before it is discharged into our waterways. Any pollutants in stormwater end up in our lakes, rivers, streams, harbours and oceans.

Driveway carwashing is a thing of the past; the Canadian Government is now recognizing it as an unethical and an environmental hazard.

There are approximately 140,000 vehicles registered in North Vancouver. If every vehicle was washed once a month in the driveway with 40 litres of water (that's only 5 buckets worth), over 67,200,000 litres of polluted water would enter the stormwater system every year causing great harm to the eco-system.

If you are concerned about the environment the absolute best place to wash your car is at Easywash.

October 2006:
Easywash made a cash donation to the Seymour Salmonid Society:

This cheque presentation was in the North Shore News and generated $500 for the Seymour Salmonid Society, which not only provided much needed funding but also more awareness for a great cause.
